Intelligent Boiler Control

M2G
REDUCES THE ENERGY
REQUIRED FOR COMMERCIAL HEATING SYSTEMS
BY UP TO 35%

WHY IS IT NEEDED?
OVER 80% OF COMMERCIAL GAS AND OIL BOILERS ARE OVERSIZED, RESULTING IN SIGNIFICANT ENERGY WASTAGE.

FEATURES
AND BENEFITS

• Numerous verified documented installations clearly illustrate a reduction in energy consumption
of up to 35%.

• High return on investment with paybacks normally between
6 - 24 months.

• Significantly reduces energy consumption through elimination of wasteful burner fires and effectively spreading the system loading demand over the number
of installed boilers.

• Easily and quickly installed with no
readjustment or calibration required throughout the lifetime of the
M2G system. No disruption to the heating system during installation.

• Both single and multi-boiler applications qualify for the Energy Technology List.

• The M2G system has been approved by the Carbon Trust for single and
multi-boiler applications.

• Increased boiler life through reduced firing and more effective control.

EFFECTIVE
Finding ways of reducing energy consumption and the associated cost in a very volatile commercial utility market is high on the agenda of every organisation. Options open to achieving this range from switching your gas supplier, capital replacement programmes or implementation of peripheral energy efficiency measures in the work space.
Now there is the M2G system, a cost-effective, highly efficient solution that uses self-learning intelligence. The M2G system is helping both public and private sector organisations reduce their fuel bills and harmful carbon emissions (see case study).

INTELLIGENT
The M2G is an advanced intelligent boiler control that optimises the efficiency of each individual boiler. A unit attached to each boiler monitors the temperature of the water in the flow and return every 10 seconds and the information is recorded, along with the heat transfer rates at both the first and second stage firings.
When a loading demand is made, the M2G system automatically checks the latest data it has stored and decides whether it is more economical to retain first stage firing or to introduce a second stage firing. The result is a substantial fuel reduction during less demanding situations while ensuring maximum capacity during heavy load periods.
A UK and European patent is pending.
The M2G is not to be mistaken with a time delay unit. The M2G uses self learning intelligence when deciding if and when a boiler should fire and for how long it should fire.
Time delay units on the other hand will stop the burner from firing even when there is a real demand from the building for heat. The timer adds additional control but not additional intelligence to the system and comfort levels in the building will be negatively affected.

FLEXIBLE
The M2G system is designed to be used in a wide variety of commercial applications that consume natural gas, LP gas, Class C oil or Class D oil. Although designed for multiple boilers, it can also be used singly and can be fitted to many types of boiler including forced draught and atmospheric systems.

INSTALLATION
With an average installation time of just 90 minutes for each boiler, and with no disruption to the heating system during installation, savings can be achieved from day one.
Easily and quickly installed with no readjustment or calibration required throughout the lifetime of the
M2G system.

INTEGRATES WITH BEMS
The M2G system, by concentrating on burner efficiency, is a unique system that integrates with other building energy management systems (BEMS) you may have.
Approved by the Carbon Trust, it has been extensively researched and stringently tested to ensure that it delivers what it promises: significant savings on commercial fuel bills. In addition to the short term gain of reducing fuel consumption, it also helps to increase boiler life through reduced firing and more effective control with a ROI achievable within 6-24 months in most cases.

The ETL symbol is a UK registered certification mark of the Carbon Trust. This logo
is a registered trademark and its use is restricted to products that meet energy efficiency criteria endorsed by Government. The M2G system has passed a stringent qualifying process for inclusion on the Energy Technology List. The ECA website clearly confirms that wherever you see this symbol in connection with a product,
that product can be bought in the confidence that it has proven energy-efficient performance. As a further indication of Government approval, the Inland Revenue allows private sector companies that install the M2G system in single and
multi-boiler applications, 100% capital allowance in the first year.

CASE STUDY
The Down Lisburn Health and Social Services Trust is part of the NHS. It has a clearly defined energy and environmental policy with two main objectives:

1.To reduce overheads in order to improve quality patient care through more effective management of funds.

2.To reduce harmful CO2 emissions in line with the Government’s commitment to the Kyoto Protocol Agreement and to set an example to the private sector.

CONCLUSION
“In our opinion, the M2G system appeared to have the most advanced boiler control we could find. In both short and long term trials the system was very effective at reducing energy consumption while maintaining room temperature.”
Robert Spence MSc, Energy & Environmental Manager, Down Lisburn HSS Trust
